Kotin Blasts NPP Over Bawku Peace Tactics

Security expert Emmanuel Kotin asked political parties to stop making peace efforts in Bawku about politics. He defended Police Chief Dr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, who said he would give Bawku youth priority in future police hiring. The NPP Minority criticized these comments through a press conference. Kotin called such press events quick stunts that have lost their purpose.

Kotin praised the IGP for using diplomacy that respects local culture. He questioned why people attacked the statement when it included all Bawku youth regardless of ethnic background. He mentioned similar recruitment focused on specific regions that happened before in Ghana. Kotin said Bawku residents suffer because the conflict prevents them from enjoying national resources like other Ghanaians.

The security analyst criticized the NPP for acting like longtime opposition members despite leaving office only three months ago. He wondered what they did about the conflict during their eight years in power. Kotin hoped former Vice President Bawumia, who comes from Mamprugu, would help build peace. He asked both main parties to respect the peace efforts led by Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and think about Bawku residents who have suffered for years.
