Good News for 2024 KCSE Candidates as Enrollment Portal Opens. The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) opened its enrollment portal on Friday, January 24, 2025. This is good news for students who took the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam in 2024. The portal will stay open for 21 days until February 14. Students can apply for courses at teacher training colleges, medical colleges, and technical and vocational schools. In the past, students had to wait until August to get a spot. The new system lets them get in sooner for classes starting in March and May. To apply on the portal, students need a mean grade below C+ on the KCSE exam. Universities require a C+ or higher for direct admission. The portal also allows past KCSE exam takers from 2000 to 2024 to apply to medical and technical colleges. KUCCPS CEO Agness Wahome explained the new process in a statement. Different types of colleges have different application windows based on when their courses begin. Universities and teacher colleges start later in the year. Medical and technical schools have intakes in January, February, and May. KUCCPS wants students to apply to colleges close to home to save money. They will announce university application dates later. Students retaking exams in July can use new grades to apply in September. Help to apply will be available at designated colleges in all 47 counties. Out of 962,512 students who took the KCSE in 2024, 246,391 qualified for university with a C+. 605,774 are expected to apply to technical and vocational schools.
