Kusile Moves to Curb Truck Chaos with New Stop Sites

Kusile Rural District Council picked three locations for future truck stops after complaints about dangerous parking along the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls road. Drivers currently leave their trucks near St Luke's, Cross Jotsholo, and Gwayi areas, creating hazards for other travelers. According to recent reports, these unofficial parking spots also became places where people misuse drugs.

The council chief executive, Sifiso Hadebe, told reporters on Friday that they selected land at Masinyane, Cross Jotsholo, and St. Luke's for proper truck facilities. Motorists raised concerns about the current situation threatening road safety. The parked trucks force other vehicles into risky passing maneuvers on the highway. Local officials hope the new designated stops will address both the safety issues and reduce illegal activities.

The council aims to start construction once it finishes planning the facilities. It needs to create proper parking areas with basic services for truck drivers. The new stops should help keep large vehicles off highway shoulders and reduce accidents. Community members expressed support for the project during recent public meetings. Road safety groups also praised the initiative as a needed improvement for the busy route.
