After a special Cabinet meeting, Ofosu told reporters that rumors about Mahama appointing 100 ministers and hiding some at the presidency were completely false. The real number is just 56 ministers, much fewer than previous governments.

Ofosu gave exact numbers for presidential staff. Only 30 people work as presidential staffers or aides today, compared to the 336 political appointees working under the NPP government back in 2022. Every presidential staffer has been publicly named—specifically, 27 staffers plus three aides for special projects.

The government saves lots of money by having fewer ministers, Ofosu explained. Cutting from 126 ministers down to about 60 saves millions of cedis on cars and other expenses. He asked Ghanaians not to believe what he called false NPP stories. Mahama wants less waste and more responsible spending, unlike the NPP, which started with 27 staffers and 256 political appointees in 2017 and then grew to 336 appointees by 2022.
