Kwesi Pratt Junior wants the current Ghana Journalists Association leaders to stay another term. The veteran reporter runs The Insight newspaper and thinks the present team deserves to keep their jobs. He shared his views on social media about the upcoming GJA elections. Pratt believes the vote will just confirm what everyone already knows. The current group has done everything right during their three years leading the association. Albert Kwabena Dwumfour leads the GJA as president and faces praise from Pratt for multiple successes. The team fixed up the International Press Centre and made it better for everyone. They focused hard on teaching journalists new skills and protecting press freedom across Ghana. The leaders also worked to keep media workers safe and improve their working conditions. Pratt cannot find anything wrong with how they handled their duties. The association will hold elections this Sunday June 30 to pick new leaders at national and regional levels. Election officials approved 62 people to run for different jobs around the country. Thirteen candidates want the six top national positions that guide the whole organization. Dwumfour faces challenger Charles Yaw Mawusi for the presidential spot. Other people compete for vice president, general secretary, organising secretary, treasurer and public affairs officer roles. The current leadership gained attention for pushing media development forward and defending free speech rights. They worked to maintain professional standards among journalists throughout the nation. The association plays a key role in protecting media workers and their interests.
