Laveda drops their new song manny with a relaxed acoustic guitar riff that meets serious electric chords. The band recorded everything on tape to create their signature grainy sound texture. Jake Brooks leads the group with his soft singing voice that holds everything together as the music builds. Other band members Ali Genevich, Aaron Scannell and Josiah Martuscello add guitar, bass and drums to complete the sound.

Brooks wrote manny during a late night session at his friend Dylan Sky's house in Eagle Rock. The two musicians shared marijuana to stay awake and keep working on demo recordings. Brooks says the drug helped him try new musical ideas he would never normally attempt. The song almost appeared on their 2024 album but the band saved it for later use instead.

Manny serves as the first preview of Retail Drugs upcoming album rECKless dRIVing due August 1st. Fire Talk imprint Angel Tapes will release the full record featuring all tape-recorded demo songs. The track represents one of the strongest pieces from their hazy low-fi music collection. Brooks originally created manny during demo work for his separate guitar-pop project called Laveda.
