LG OLED TVs and Monitors Get the Eyesafe Nod

UL Solutions just tested LG Display's OLED TVs and monitors for blue light safety. They passed with flying colors, making them the first displays worldwide to earn Eyesafe Verification. This proves that LG Display tells the truth when it says its screens cut down on blue light that messes with sleep cycles.

"We want shoppers to trust what products claim," said Todd Denison from UL Solutions. "Our testing helps people tell the difference between real facts and empty promises. Many screen users worry about health effects from staring at displays all day, which makes our science-based testing with Eyesafe standards super important."

OLED screens work differently than regular displays because each pixel lights itself up without needing a backlight. UL Solutions tested these screens against Eyesafe Display Requirements 3.0, looking at both the Radiance Protection Factor and the Circadian Protection Factor. Higher numbers mean less harmful blue light, with 35 being the passing grade. LG Display scored RPF40 for safe blue light levels and good color quality, plus CPF60 for reduced blue light overall.

Eye doctors and scientists helped create the Eyesafe standards that UL Solutions uses. Companies that pass can put the special UL Eyesafe Verified Mark on their products and packaging. "This seal from a trusted testing company shows we created a new benchmark for displays that protect users," said Soo-young Yoon from LG Display. He promised the company would keep pushing forward with new ideas to make displays better for customers.
