Police caught Luke Zinyengere again after his daring escape. The 29-year-old prisoner faced charges of armed robbery and having illegal guns before he ran away. He broke free last Friday when court ended for the day. His family members helped by sneaking him a pistol as guards walked him to the prison truck heading back to Harare Remand Prison. Luke managed to escape by threatening someone with the gun and stealing their car. His partner, Tafadzwa Richard Marondera, tried to run toward Belvedere Road, but guards caught him just outside the court fence. Police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi announced that they arrested several family members who helped Luke. These included 19-year-old Tatenda Zinyengere, 31-year-old Kelvin Chinganga, Siphelile Zinyengere, and 28-year-old Obey Rwaendepi. The police learned these relatives not only assisted his escape but also hid him afterward. Their investigation showed Tatenda Zinyengere gave his brother the loaded revolver pistol used during the escape. Luke then robbed a local man named Tinashe Chiyamuro, stealing his Mazda Demio car at gunpoint. He later left the stolen vehicle on Kaguvi Street in Harare. Other suspects tried to help Luke escape to a neighboring country. The Zimbabwe Republic Police warned everyone against hiding criminals because it makes their job harder and blocks justice. They asked people to stay alert and report anything suspicious they see. The police promise to keep working hard for public safety and said they need help from regular citizens to fight crime effectively.
