The party broke away from the Forum for Democratic Change after disputes over campaign funding. PFF leaders claimed the ruling NRM party secretly funded FDC's 2021 election efforts. The Electoral Commission officially registered PFF as a political party during May. The new party recently joined forces with the Alliance for National Transformation to challenge President Museveni. Nobody knows if these two opposition groups will pick one candidate for the presidential race.
