A 56-year-old truck driver from South Africa will appear in court on November 3, facing 17 counts of culpable homicide after a fatal crash on the Chitungwiza Highway in July. The truck struck and killed two pedestrians, Prodigious Mugere and another person, before crashing into an oncoming commuter bus.

The collision caused the truck to overturn and crush the Nissan Caravan bus operated by Wakanda Tours, registration ACZ 6937. Driver Tatenda Silva and 14 passengers died at the scene. Five other people suffered serious injuries in the accident.

Authorities transported the victims to Chitungwiza Central Hospital for examination. State prosecutors argue that excessive speed prevented Madiviko from maintaining proper vehicle control. The investigation continues as the case moves toward trial.
