MAGLA drops curtains to spruce up QECH labour ward

MAGLA gave Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital new curtains worth K6.7 million for its maternity ward and donated items like salt, wrappers, soap, and buckets for newborns, costing K1.4 million more. These gifts will help mothers have privacy during childbirth. The hospital staff asked MAGLA for help because they needed curtains to protect women's dignity when giving birth. Every 51 minutes, a baby arrives at this busy hospital.

The curtains will cover all 24 beds in the labor ward, helping medical staff offer respectful care to mothers. QECH handles about 30 deliveries each day. Most cases at QECH are complicated because it serves as a referral hospital. Rachel Mijiga from MAGLA said they wanted to support the hospital's needs. Christina Chapotera-Mbiza, a midwifery specialist at QECH, expressed thanks for the donation.
