Mahama Taps Dr Iddrisu as Acting Data Boss

President Mahama picked Dr. Alhassan Iddrisu to serve as the Acting Government Statistician until he talks with the Council of State. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, who runs Government Communications, shared this news on Friday, April 4, 2025.

Dr. Iddrisu is the head of economic strategy and Research at the Finance Ministry right now. He brings years of expert service to the job. He manages how Ghana studies money trends, makes future plans, and builds policies. He helps create the big Ghana Money Report and shapes the country's yearly budgets.

Dr. Iddrisu has led many important teams before. He ran the Economic Research team from 2013 to 2019 and the Real Sector group from 2010 to 2013. His skills reach beyond just the Finance building—he works with many government groups, sits on public boards, and helps make big choices about money planning and how things run.

In addition to his main government work, Dr. Iddrisu teaches part-time at the University of Professional Studies in Accra. He also advises big world groups like Oxfam GB and the World Bank when they need help.

Dr. Iddrisu earned his PhD in International Development Studies from Tokyo, Japan, at the National Graduate Institute. He also has high-level degrees from the London School of Economics and the University of Ghana.

The President trusts that Dr. Iddrisu will bring honest, fresh, and smart ideas to Ghana's number-tracking services. Ghana wants better facts when making choices about money and the country's growth plans. The job becomes final after talking with the Council of State as required by law.
