A new independent water utility has been established to manage all water and sanitation systems in the troubled Emfuleni Local Municipality. Deputy Minister of Water and Sanitation David Mahlobo launched the special purpose vehicle, a partnership between Rand Water Services and the local Metsi-a-Lekoa unit. The newly formed Emfuleni Water Utility will be responsible for providing reliable services to areas including Vanderbijlpark and Sebokeng.
Mahlobo issued a strong warning against the vandalism of infrastructure, stating that such criminal acts undermine community progress.
