Malawi leaders plan to keep feeding hungry families across the country. Water and Sanitation Minister Abida Mia talked about this on Sunday at a Malawi Congress Party rally in the Chikwawa district. The party gathered to welcome Owen Chomanika, who serves as both the Member of Parliament for Chikwawa North and Minister of Climate Change and Natural Resources. Mia told everyone at Chikwawa Secondary School that the government had set aside K60 billion to buy food for people who needed help. She explained that President Lazarus Chakwera knows many households face hunger problems. Mia said the President wants to fix challenges quickly with direct solutions that help struggling citizens right away. The party happily welcomed Chomanika, with Mia saying that bigger numbers make political parties stronger. She mentioned that President Chakwera feels pleased about Chomanika joining MCP. The President wants him to work hard for party success during the upcoming elections on September 16th this year. Mia urged people from the Chikwawa and Nsanje districts to back the Chakwera administration if they wanted meaningful development projects. Party Secretary-General Richard Chimwendo Banda announced that they had found money to build two highways. These roads—the Sidik Mia and Gwanda Chakwamba highways—will serve Chapananga and East Bank starting in April. The government planned these roads to honor two heroes who helped develop the country. Banda asked party leaders not to worry about losing positions because Chomanika joined them. Chomanika promised to keep working hard for his district and the current government. He decided to officially join MCP after watching President Chakwera show good leadership for Malawi. He believes supporting the current administration makes sense because they have already proven they can run the country effectively. Many important officials came to the rally, including Information Minister Moses Kumkuyu, Labour Minister Peter Dimba, and several deputy ministers and parliament members.
