Mamprugu Overlord Demands Peace for Bawku Now

The Mamprugu leader, Naa Bohaga Mahami Abdulai Sheriga, wants the government to act fast on the Bawku violence. He spoke to reporters at Nalerigu's Nayiri Palace last week about his worries regarding recent attacks. The traditional ruler warned that they might protect their people themselves if authorities fail to step up. He stated clearly that Mamprugu needs immediate protection, especially along the Bolgatanga-Bawku-Poulimakom road areas.

The Nayiri offered several suggestions to improve security. He asked for more officers with better equipment to patrol the troubled area. He recommended checkpoints on major routes, new police stations in key spots, and unified transport systems to stop armed attacks. The leader also expressed disappointment about the recent IGP visit, which he felt lacked strong warnings against those causing violence.

He urged the Mamprugu youth to stay peaceful despite tensions. The traditional authority called for good leadership from all state officials during this difficult time. The Nayiri ended with hopes that President Mahama and the Otumfuo will receive wisdom as they work toward national peace. He stressed that keeping peace remains the main goal for all involved.
