Mapeza hits back at Dynamos walk off

FC Platinum manager Norman Mapeza spoke out against teams leaving matches when they disagree with referees. His team played Dynamos yesterday at Mandava Stadium. The game ended early when Dynamos players walked away from the field. They left because the referee gave FC Platinum a penalty kick. Both teams had scored one goal each when the match stopped.

Mapeza believes teams must accept what referees decide during games. He said walking away from matches hurts football across the country. The coach explained that his team has faced bad referee choices before. They never abandoned games even when officials made mistakes against them. Players should finish matches regardless of controversial decisions.

The FC Platinum coach thought his players wasted good scoring chances during the match. His team gave away an easy goal from a free kick early on. They created better opportunities after halftime and scored through Thando Ngwenya. The players missed two clear chances that could have changed the final result. Better finishing might have prevented the early ending.

Dynamos coach Saul Chaminuka argued his team deserved a free kick instead of conceding a penalty. He claimed an FC Platinum player fouled his captain Emmanuel Jalai first. The coach blamed poor refereeing for putting pressure on managers across the league. He said coaches lose their jobs because of bad referee decisions. The Premier Soccer League issued a statement condemning teams that abandon matches.
