Margaret Nyambura Declines Kenya's Ghana Ambassadorship

Kenya's Pick for Ghana Post Says No Thanks.

A second person has turned down the job of being Kenya's top diplomat in Ghana. Margaret Nyambura, who used to run Kenya's tech office, told leaders she can't take the role.

She wrote to Kenya's defense team and said she had personal reasons for not meeting with them about the job. The team's head, Nelson Koech, was sad about her choice.

Last year, another person said no to this same job. Vincent Mogaka Kemosi was asked first, but he didn't want it either.

Nyambura lost her old job after young people held big protests across Kenya. The president picked her for the Ghana job on December 24, 2024. She had worked as a tech boss for just four months.

The president also chose new faces for other places. Ababu Namwamba will work at the UN office in Nairobi. Andrew Karanja heads to Brazil. Noor Gabow gets the Haiti post.

This news shows how difficult it can be to fill some jobs abroad. Ghana seems like a tough spot for Kenya's leaders to fill.
