Mary Paula Turyahikayo secured the National Resistance Movement flag bearer position for Rukungiri District Woman Member of Parliament seat during the 2026 elections. The former Rubabbo County representative from the tenth Parliament defeated her competitors in primaries conducted on July 17, 2025. Right Mwongyera, the district NRM Elections Officer, announced her victory on Friday evening at 8:50 PM.
