[QUOTE="Munyaradzi Mafaro, post: 80715, member: 636"] A head-on crash on a busy highway left seven people dead, including two kids. The accident happened on the Masaka-Mbarara road in Lwengo District at Njagalakasayi. It involved a silver Toyota Fielder with plate UBH 476W and a silver Fuso truck marked UBP 510V. Police spokesperson SP Kasirye Twaha from the Greater Masaka Region confirmed the details. Preliminary reports say the Toyota, heading toward Mbarara, swerved into the opposite lane. It hit the oncoming Fuso truck traveling toward Masaka directly. All four occupants of the Toyota Fielder died instantly. The deceased were the adult male driver, an adult female passenger, and two juveniles. Authorities have not released their names yet. Three more bodies were found at the scene later, raising the total fatalities to seven. Traffic Police secured the area and moved both wrecks for a formal inspection. The bodies were taken to Masaka City Mortuary for autopsies. Police suspect reckless driving caused the collision, but the investigation continues. SP Twaha urged motorists to follow traffic rules, especially during early morning hours with poorer visibility. The Masaka-Mbarara highway is notoriously busy and dangerous, with several fatal crashes reported recently. This tragedy has sparked more calls for careful and responsible driving on that route.
