Masvingo Province tried to bring wealthy businessman Kudakwashe Tagwirei into Zanu-PF's top leadership group. They put his name forward first back in March because he comes from Gutu and helps many local projects. However, Harare Province also wanted him and they won the race. The party leaders picked Harare's choice over Masvingo's request. Tagwirei joined the Central Committee through Harare instead. Masvingo officials say they are not angry about losing out. Provincial spokesperson Pepukai Chiwewe said they are happy with what Tagwirei does for the party anyway. He was already working with Zanu-PF structures in Harare before this happened. They only wanted to add him if Harare had not already done it. The province still supports his work and contributions. Patrick Chinamasa from Zanu-PF's legal team welcomed Tagwirei's appointment. He said the businessman will bring fresh ideas to the party's urban work. Chinamasa warned that critics will attack Tagwirei for joining the leadership. He believes the businessman is strong enough to handle the pressure. The move helps Zanu-PF prepare for future elections. Tagwirei built his wealth through business and gives money to good causes. His foundation supports schools, hospitals and churches across Zimbabwe. He became the first Black person to win a major award from the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Many people think his political rise shows he wants bigger roles in the party.
