Trevor Ncube from Alpha Media Holdings asks the police to take him instead of his staff writer. The boss says his news writer, Blessed Mhlanga, should not stay in prison. Ncube came to court to support Mhlanga, who has been kept behind bars after a judge said no to freedom. Mhlanga went to the police himself on Monday. He faces claims about sharing words that cause fighting. These claims link to talks he had with a former army person named Blessed Runesu Geza. The army man said the nation's leader must step down from power. Ncube points out that Mhlanga does not run the TV station Heart and Soul. He states that news writers have rights under the law and that they tell facts to people just as other press do. Ncube feels he should face court himself as the business head. The press leader feels sad that Mhlanga must stay locked up. He sees this as not fair treatment and says the court misses the point about press rights. Ncube believes news staff should tell stories without fear of jail time. Ncube states that President Mnangagwa controls the courts. He notes that the leader claims power over all parts of the law and safety forces. Ncube promises to keep going despite seeing what he calls wrong actions that go against basic rules. Judge Farai Gwitima kept Mhlanga from leaving jail. The judge thinks Mhlanga might talk to people who work for him about the case. The court also fears letting him out could hurt peace across the land. The lawyer, Chris Mhike, plans to ask a higher court to free Mhlanga very soon. The news writer must come back to face the judge on March 14 as his case moves forward.
