NVIDIA RTX Spark chips power the new Surface Laptop Ultra. Microsoft plans to show off two versions in San Francisco with 18-core and 24-core processors. These Arm-based systems pack serious heat for a thin laptop.

The base model starts with 24 GB of unified memory while the top tier jumps to 32 GB. Both machines feature a 15-inch PixelSense Ultra touchscreen that hits 2,000 nits of peak HDR brightness. Color accuracy looks solid, but resolution details remain missing from current leaks.

Users get a haptic touchpad that is roughly 30 percent larger than the one on the current 15-inch Surface Laptop. Connectivity includes three USB Type-C ports plus a single Type-A slot. An HDMI port and full-size SD card reader round out the selection.

Performance claims suggest battery life will not throttle speed compared to wall power. Microsoft aims to prove this parity during the upcoming demo. Specific workloads for these tests have not been disclosed yet.

A previously rumored 20-core variant might join the Ultra family or sit elsewhere in the lineup. Pricing and storage options are still under wraps. The October event should clear up where each configuration fits in the broader strategy.
