Minister Calls for Crackdown on School Indiscipline

Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu wants the Ghana Education Service to crack down fast on bad behavior in high schools across the country. He feels worried about students acting up more these days, saying it hurts Ghana's school system.

Speaking to school leaders in Sunyani, Iddrisu mentioned a shooting that happened at SDA Senior High School in Kumasi. He called this scary incident a sign that discipline keeps getting worse in schools. These kinds of violent acts make everyone less safe when they should be learning.

The government supports GES Director-General Professor Ernest Kofi Davis as he plans tough new rules to restore order in classrooms. Iddrisu believes everyone needs to work together—teachers, principals, parents, and officials—to make respect for rules important again in schools.

"He has our full policy support to enforce those directives," Iddrisu said about the Director General. The education boss wants more inspections to keep dangerous items like guns away from students. Officials hope these steps will create safer learning spaces for all Ghanaian students.
