A Little Girl's Health Takes a Scary Turn. Tatenda Machezera was a healthy 4-year-old girl. Then something changed two weeks ago. On December 22, 2024, Tatenda felt very sick. Her head hurt a lot. She felt dizzy. Her nose and mouth started to bleed. Tatenda's grandparents got scared. They took her to a clinic near their home in Bulawayo. The clinic sent Tatenda to a big hospital called UBH. Tatenda and her grandma stayed at UBH for almost two weeks. Doctors and nurses tried to figure out what was wrong. They think Tatenda might have a type of cancer in her bones. Yesterday, an air ambulance helicopter came to UBH. The helicopter took Tatenda and her grandma to a hospital in Harare. Doctors there will do more tests to determine exactly what Tatenda has. Tatenda's grandpa is very thankful. He said the UBH staff took great care of Tatenda. He is grateful that the air ambulance could take her to Harare so fast. It would take 6 hours to drive there. But the helicopter only takes about an hour. Air ambulances are super helpful. They can quickly transport very sick people to hospitals that can provide them with special care. This is really important for people who live far away from big hospitals. The air ambulance that helped Tatenda has a doctor, a pilot, and other helpers on board. It will be based at UBH. When someone needs it, the air ambulance can take off in just 15 minutes. Everyone hopes the tests in Harare will show what is making Tatenda so sick. They want to help her feel better very soon. Having the air ambulance got her the care she needed much faster.
