Nintendo just shared a big talk with Hidetaka Miyazaki about his company's surprise game "The Duskbloods." Nobody expected FromSoftware to make a game for the Nintendo Switch 2. Miyazaki leads FromSoftware as president and has created famous games like Dark Souls and Elden Ring. His team started making this game for the old Switch but changed plans when they learned about the new, stronger system. They decided the extra power would help them make a better game. "The Duskbloods" mix players against monsters and other players. Miyazaki finds this setup exciting because it lets them try many new ideas. He made sure everyone knows they still love making single-player games. They plan to keep making games like Elden Ring alongside new stuff. Miyazaki told fans not to worry because Elden Ring comes to Nintendo Switch 2 as well. The company wants to keep making the kinds of games that made it famous. Players can pick from more than twelve characters called Bloodsworn. These fighters gain special powers by drinking magic blood, similar to vampires. Miyazaki said they focused on romantic vampire ideas rather than scary monster parts. All these characters gather at something named "Twilight of Humanity" from different times and places. They compete for something called "First Blood." This explains why the game trailer showed such different locations. These characters can do bigger moves than past FromSoftware games. Each fighter uses some kind of gun or bow, unlike earlier games that mainly used swords and other close weapons. Players start in a hub area before joining matches with up to eight people. Most times, you win by being the last person alive, but sometimes everyone must team up against a big monster. The game has Victory Points you can earn without fighting, which helps players who like different ways to play. The game adds special events during matches to keep things fresh. You might face surprise enemies or find bonus goals. Miyazaki talked about a role system they're finishing where you can be a "Destined Rival" hunting another player for rewards. Or you might become a "Destined Companion" who needs to find and make friends with another player. The game launches in 2026 only for Nintendo Switch 2. Many fans feel sad it won't come to other systems like Dark Souls did, making it more like Bloodborne, which stayed only on PlayStation 4.
