Mnangagwa Urges African Unity to Honor Dr Nujoma

President Mnangagwa spoke yesterday about African nations working together. He said they must honor what their founding fathers started. They need to build a better future for young people.

He shared these thoughts at a memorial for Dr Sam Nujoma, the founding father of Namibia. The event happened at Independence Stadium. President Mnangagwa explained that Dr Nujoma knew freedom meant more than just political independence. It also includes fair treatment for all people and lasting growth.

Dr Nujoma led Namibia from 1990 to 2005. He died on February 8, 2025, at age 95, in a hospital in Windhoek. Many speakers praised him for fighting against colonialism. He fought not just for Namibia but for other African countries.

President Mnangagwa talked about how Dr Nujoma pushed for fair treatment, better business, and teamwork among nations. He reminded people of Dr Nujoma's belief in what the founding fathers wanted. They called for African unity because they wanted money, freedom, teamwork, and bringing the whole continent together.

These leaders understood that political freedom was not enough. It meant little without real money independence. President Mnangagwa said nations must keep working together and protect what Dr Nujoma and others fought for.

African nations should turn their sadness into action. Dr Nujoma wanted peace and success for Southern Africa, the whole continent, and the Global South. His dreams should live on through teamwork.

The president urged everyone to keep fighting for fair treatment, the same chances for all, and peace. This was what Dr Nujoma did his whole life. Dr Nujoma lived to help his people and others.

President Mnangagwa called his death a big loss for Africa and beyond. He said people will always remember how Dr Nujoma worked for justice, fair treatment, and freedom.

Dr Nujoma was more than just a leader. He was a hero who gave hope to African people. He helped build the freedom that Namibia and SADC value today. As head of SWAPO, he pushed many people to stand up against those who took their land. His dream of free African people brought Southern Africa together.

The African Union leader, President João Lourenço from Angola, said history books will tell about Dr Nujoma, and future groups will learn from him.

Namibian President Dr Nangolo Mbumba noted that February brought pain. Last year, they lost their third President, Hage Geingob. This year, they lost Dr Nujoma. His fighting spirit lives on, and they celebrate his life and what he did.

Namibian Vice President Dr Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah stressed staying true to what Namibia fought for. Dr Nujoma gave his life to this cause.

Former President Dr Hifikepunye Pohamba said he worked with Dr Nujoma for 63 years. They worked together during hard times and after freedom came.
