Molly Katanga Remanded Again as Bail is Denied in Murder Case

Molly Katanga will have to stay in Luzira Prison for longer. She has been there for more than a year already. The High Court said she cannot leave yet.

Molly is accused of killing her husband, Henry Katanga, in their house in Mbuya on November 2, 2023. The people who make the rules think Molly and Henry had a big fight. They say Molly hurt Henry so badly that he died.

But Molly's friends say that is not what happened. They say Henry was mean to Molly. He hit her a lot. They think Henry hurt himself after he hurt Molly. Molly had bad cuts on her head after the fight.

Molly asked the court to let her go home until her trial. She is not feeling well. Doctors say she has high blood pressure and lumps in her breasts. She feels dizzy sometimes. The bad fight with Henry made her very sad and scared.

The people at the prison cannot help Molly feel better. She needs to see special doctors. Molly is also worried about her family. She has a young child who needs her.

But the judge said Molly has to stay in prison for now. The judge thinks the accusations against Molly are very serious. Even though Molly is sick, the judge believes the prison can take care of her.

The judge said the lumps in Molly's breasts are not dangerous yet. Molly can wait a few years between doctor visits for that.

Molly's trial is almost over. Many people have already told the court what they saw or heard. The next big day in court is March 10, 2025. The judge wants to finish the case soon.

For now, Molly will stay in Luzira Prison. She feels sad about that. She misses her family. But she has to wait until the court decides whether she did something wrong.
