MSI's PRO MAX EDGE AI+ 11M-008JP packs 128GB of shared memory into a four-liter desktop built for local AI. The main draw is its ability to handle large models without relying on cloud servers, at least within the limits of its hardware and software. Under the hood, there's an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 chip with 16 cores and 32 threads. MSI pairs it with Radeon 8060S graphics, giving the PC built-in GPU power without needing a separate graphics card for basic display tasks. Here's where things get interesting. MSI claims the desktop can handle AI models with as many as 120 billion parameters. That's a big number, but it doesn't mean every model of that size will run well. A lot depends on how much the model has been compressed, which tools are used, and what tasks the user wants it to perform. Running a model and getting fast responses from it are two different things. The shared memory setup is another key feature. Rather than keeping system RAM and graphics memory in separate pools, the processor and GPU can access the same 128GB. That gives AI software more room to manage memory use. But memory capacity isn't the whole story. MSI hasn't shared independent benchmarks, which leaves real-world model speed and performance under heavy loads uncertain. The PC isn't limited to chatbots, either. MSI is pitching it for AI image tools, video production, and 3D work. Those tasks can place very different demands on the hardware. Storage comes from a 2TB NVMe SSD, while Windows 11 Pro handles the operating system. That's the standard setup buyers get with this configuration. As for ports, there are seven USB connections in total. Two support USB4 with 40Gbps bandwidth, and an SD card slot is available for moving files from cameras and other gear. Wireless networking gets Wi-Fi 7, while wired users have a 2.5Gb Ethernet connection. The system can also run four screens, which could be handy for keeping code, AI tools, and monitoring apps open at once. The case measures 97.5 by 188.4 by 248.5mm and weighs roughly 3.1kg. It's a small desktop, though it still needs proper desk space and power. That compact build raises a fair question about heat. A powerful processor working hard inside a small case needs good cooling, and the specs don't reveal how well it holds up during long AI sessions. Then there's the price. Japanese buyers are looking at ¥818,000 with tax, or roughly US$5,181 based on the exchange rate used in the announcement. Definitely not budget mini PC territory. For that money, the selling point is access to a large memory pool in a prebuilt local AI machine. Buyers focused on cheap computing may find the cost hard to justify. MSI has outlined a Japanese launch, but wider sales plans and prices for other markets remain unclear. That leaves anyone outside Japan with no confirmed local deal to compare yet.
