Uganda's top military chief attended the burial of his close friend Saturday. General Muhoozi Kainerugaba served as chief mourner for Cedric Babu Ndilima at Kamengo. Hundreds of people came to pay their respects to the popular businessman and politician. Babu died May 31st at a Nairobi hospital after heart problems. The funeral drew family members, political leaders and business partners from across the country. Babu suffered from a rare blood disorder that damaged his heart and other organs. Doctor Amanda Mbonye explained his medical condition during Friday's church service at Rubaga Cathedral. The illness caused severe heart failure and multiple health complications. His condition worsened rapidly after he collapsed during a trip to Rwanda in April. Plans to fly him to Britain for treatment could not happen because his health declined fast. General Muhoozi had appointed Babu to lead political activities for Kampala. He praised his friend as someone who cared deeply about Uganda's future. Babu worked in sports, business and government service throughout his career. Many people remembered him for helping others and giving back to the community. He leaves behind his wife and three sons who thanked everyone for their support.
