Museveni says build your household income

President Museveni called for Ugandans to make household money their top concern during a meeting at Mwanzi Parish. He compared this approach to spiritual teachings that put God first, saying nations should put family income ahead of other goals. The president spoke during his tour, checking wealth creation programs in the Greater Mubende area.

Museveni pointed out that Uganda has built many roads connecting major towns like Kabale to Tororo. He warned that good infrastructure alone cannot transform lives when families lack money. He mentioned seeing people go hungry in Kampala despite living among paved streets, electricity, and water pipes.

The president shared a story about a 64-year-old woman whose life changed after receiving money from the Parish Development Model program. Her husband, who had left, came back home after seeing improvements. Museveni expressed worry about poor road maintenance, asking why authorities let good roads fall apart when proper care could keep them serving communities well.

He voiced concern about school dropout rates in Greater Mubende, where only 32 percent finish primary school. Museveni criticized head teachers who ask parents for money despite free education policies. He also promised higher pay for local council officials to help them fight corruption in their areas.
