President Museveni sent the first batch of powdered milk to Algeria Thursday from State House Entebbe. Uganda produces about 3.85 billion liters of milk each year as of September 2023. Dairy production grows at 11 percent annually over the past five years. The milk industry contributes 6.5 percent of the country's agricultural economy. Better farming methods and processing facilities help increase production levels. Export challenges remain with shipping and regulations that limit international sales opportunities.
