Museveni Summons NRM MPs Amid Uncertain Agenda

Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni has called NRM party lawmakers to meet at State House Entebbe this Friday at 10 am.

The meeting brings together members of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party and independent MPs who align with NRM policies. Government Chief Whip Denis Hamson Obua issued the notice to all eligible lawmakers.

The agenda remains unknown to MPs. Some lawmakers suggest the meeting might address the recent Supreme Court decision that limited the General Court Martial's authority.

Another potential topic includes updates on Museveni's nationwide tours promoting the Parish Development Model (PDM). This government program aims to boost economic growth and reduce poverty across Uganda's parishes.

Previous State House meetings between Museveni and NRM MPs focused on public service delivery and party planning. During one such gathering, the President stressed the need to streamline government agencies to reduce public spending by trillions of shillings.

The absence of a clear agenda has led to discussions among parliamentarians about the meeting's purpose. MPs await further details about Friday's gathering at State House Entebbe.
