Workers nearly finished building smart grain storage towers at Mutare's Grain Marketing Board center. The project should end before July runs out. Government wants these modern buildings to keep food safe across Zimbabwe. Each storage building holds 8,000 tons of grain crops. Seven towers will store 56,000 tons total when complete. Dr Anxious Masuka checked the construction site Friday and liked what he saw. The agriculture minister said builders reached 80 percent completion. Fourteen locations across Zimbabwe are getting similar storage facilities. The new towers use artificial intelligence computers to control temperature and moisture. Built-in systems dry grain at 100 tons per hour. Engineer Farai Nyamhunga explained how much work remains on the buildings. Workers completed the main towers and drying equipment. Teams are finishing the furnace room and power systems. The dispatch area and main warehouse need more construction time. All major equipment arrived at the building site. Manicaland Province collected 394,000 tons of corn and 77,000 tons of traditional grains this season. Minister Misheck Mugadza said farmers produced 471,000 tons of crops total. New irrigation systems and dams will help farmers grow more food. Better storage buildings become more important as harvests increase.
