Christopher Mutsvangwa started a huge fight by trash-talking Vice President Constantino Chiwenga. The Zanu-PF spokesperson called Chiwenga cruel, uneducated, and bad for the party. Everyone knows Mutsvangwa wants to become president someday. He sees Chiwenga as standing in his way to the top job in Zimbabwe. Mutsvangwa shared these harsh comments during a phone call with reporter Maynard Manyowa that later appeared on Dug Up. Mutsvangwa claimed Chiwenga begged President Emmerson Mnangagwa to pick him as the next leader after 2028, which would push other candidates out of the running completely. Mutsvangwa said Chiwenga tried to kick out the president but then asked for his support as successor. He pointed out that unlike former leader Robert Mugabe, who wanted to name his replacement, Mnangagwa believes people should vote for leaders through elections instead. The party plans to select its candidates at a big meeting in 2027 before national elections in 2028. Mutsvangwa thinks Chiwenga cannot win because he treated his ex-wife, Mary Mubaiwa, terribly. He stopped her from seeing their children and blocked her medical care when she needed it. Mutsvangwa highlighted how women make up more than half of all voters, yet Chiwenga showed extreme meanness toward his former wife. Mutsvangwa mentioned that Mnangagwa tried to pardon Mubaiwa, but Chiwenga fought against it hard. He said these actions hurt Chiwenga with female voters across Zimbabwe. Mutsvangwa declared that Chiwenga could not win any election because of this history. He added that despite all these problems, the president challenged Chiwenga to seek party support anyway. Mutsvangwa also attacked Chiwenga for not having enough education to lead the country.
