A judge slammed six young men accused of lying about pastor Robert Kayanja. The court ordered them to stop delaying their defense case about fake sodomy claims. Defense lawyers keep asking for more time because of sickness and other excuses. The magistrate warned this would be the last delay he allows. The case has dragged on for nearly two years since July 2023. The suspects allegedly made up stories about being sexually abused at Rubaga Miracle Centre Cathedral. They told police that Kayanja had attacked them during church services. Medical tests proved none of the men had been harmed as they claimed. Prosecutors say the group planned together to destroy the popular preacher's reputation. Five of the accused were police officers when they made the false reports. Chief prosecutor Jonathan Muwaganya accused defense lawyers of playing games with the court system. He said they take turns missing hearings to slow down the trial. The prosecution team wants the case finished quickly after months of frustration. Several suspects remain locked up waiting for their day in court. The defense lawyers work for different law firms but represent the same clients. Magistrate Adams Byarugaba threatened to take strong action if delays continue. He told the suspects to find lawyers who will show up regularly or defend themselves. The men refuse to answer questions under oath about their accusations. The next hearing is scheduled for July 18 when the defense must present their case. Court officials say the justice system cannot tolerate endless stalling tactics.
