A judge stopped Bruno Oguda Obodha from becoming the new boss of East Africa Portland Cement Company on Friday. The judge's name is Bahati Mwamuye. He works at the High Court in Nairobi. Judge Mwamuye made this choice because of a case. A woman named Caroline Wambui Mwangi brought the case to the court. She did not want Mr. Obodha to get the job. The judge said Mr. Obodha cannot start as head of the cement company yet. He set another court date for February 12, 2025, at which time everyone involved in the case will have a chance to speak. Judge Mwamuye said no one can act like Mr. Obodha is in charge of the company for now. That means Mr. Obodha cannot go to work at the cement company and cannot be treated as the boss. The woman who brought the case must let everyone know about the judge's order very soon. The judge gave her a deadline of January 6 to do this. Ms. Mwangi thinks there are problems with how Mr. Obodha was chosen for the job. She says the way it happened is a mystery, and she argues that it goes against the rules in Kenya's Constitution. The Constitution says these kinds of things must be done in a way that people can understand. Ms. Mwangi claims that did not occur in this case. She says there is no proof that the correct steps were followed. The attorney general and the cement company are part of the court case. The judge will hear more about the issue in the future. But for now, Mr. Obodha cannot become the head of the company.
