NACADA nabs two in Usigu crackdown on drug trade

Anti-drug officials from NACADA caught two people during a big raid in Usiyu, Siaya County. The team, led by Nicholas Kosgei, searched Nyamonye market and found illegal drugs and drinks worth almost 3 million Kenyan shillings.

Officers received tips from local people about a drug dealer. They looked through business areas, rental houses, and the dealer's home. They discovered 4,600 marijuana sticks, 11 marijuana bundles, eight cartons of smuggled cigarettes, and 237 cartons of strong liquor.

The team also found four money safes that they believed were used to buy illegal goods. The main suspects, Francis Ochieng and Everline Atieno Amungu, were arrested and taken to Bondo Police Station. They will appear in court on Monday to face charges.

This big drug bust happened just one week after another successful operation in Kisii County. There, police seized drugs worth 8.7 million Kenyan shillings. NACADA continues working hard to stop illegal drug sales and protect communities from harmful substances.
