Nairobi Flood Nightmare Kills Mum Two Kids Govt Rushes

Kenya has started emergency action to help people hurt by floods and landslides in Nairobi. Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku told the Principal Secretary for Special Programs to gather agencies and make plans right away. The move came after a young mother and her two children died in flood waters at the Drive-In area of Ruaraka.

Ruku visited families and said around 55 homes were damaged, forcing about 200 people to leave. He called it heartbreaking and promised the government would stand with everyone affected. Food and supplies have already reached some victims, with more help coming soon.

The government plans to protect people living in areas where floods often happen. Heavy rain has filled drainage systems and harmed homes across parts of the city. At least six people died Monday night when strong storms hit Nairobi. Police say more victims might be found downstream.

Local leaders want the government to do more and make long-term plans to stop these tragedies. The State Department for Special Programs will lead efforts to keep Kenyans safe from future disasters. Weather experts warn that more rain might fall in the coming days.
