Namibia Cheers the Heroes Behind Our Freedom

President Nandi-Ndaitwah wants Namibia and nearby countries to protect their freedom fiercely. She believes everyone should remember the people who died fighting for liberty. Her statement Sunday marked Southern Africa Liberation Day, which happens every March 23. The Southern African Development Community created this special day to honor regional heroes who fought for peace.

The president talked about a major battle that ended 36 years ago. This fierce fight at Cuito Cuanavale in Angola changed everything for the region. It helped Angola start fresh with new development goals and peace efforts. The victory let Angola become an important member of the regional development group that works together on shared projects.

Nandi-Ndaitwah praised several brave fighting groups who battled against apartheid. She mentioned the People's Armed Forces from Angola, Cuban international forces, and Namibia's liberation army. Other freedom fighters came from political groups like Swapo, Zanu-PF, ANC, and Frelimo. These warriors helped free Namibia, South Africa, and all southern African nations.

She reminded citizens that freedom came through sacrifice. Many people lost their lives to create the peaceful country Namibians enjoy today. The president promised Namibia would keep working with other countries in the region. She wants everyone to push forward together with strong determination. Her goal focuses on helping all people across southern Africa build better lives.
