Namibia eVisa nets 25 million Namibian dollars in month one

Namibia made big money from its new online visa plan. The home office boss shared happy news last Thursday night. People paid over 25 million Namibian dollars just from March 3 to April 3, which equals about 1.33 million US dollars. Travelers filled out 15,506 forms on the web, which brought in most of the cash—over 24 million dollars.

The office also took money from 820 people who asked for visas when they landed. These at-the-door visas added 1.1 million more dollars. Mr. Maritz from the home office said they will tell everyone which countries can skip visas. He asked people to watch social media for news. Every e-visa comes with a square code to scan for facts. Visitors must use this code when they travel.

Mr. Maritz talked about how the new system helps trips go faster. People wait less time at the border. The steps to enter the country became much simpler. He thanked all travelers for staying calm when small problems happen. The office works hard to fix any issues fast. Namibia changed its free entry rules on April 1. The country stopped free entry for more than 30 lands.

Americans, British people, and many Europeans must pay for visas to visit Namibia. Before April, these visitors came without paying. The home office wants all travel helpers to learn the new rules. Travel companies should read the fresh visa needs right away. All the rules are on the office website. Mr. Maritz asked everyone to check the e-services page before planning trips.

The new visa cash shows Namibia found a good way to make money. Many countries ask for travel fees to help pay for roads and security. Namibia has joined this plan with great success. The first month brought in much more money than expected. If this keeps up, Namibia might make over 15 million US dollars each year just from people wanting to visit. This helps the country pay for better services.
