Kiprotich Arap Cherargei, the Senator for Nandi, supports the agreement President William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga made on March 7, 2025. He believes the two leaders worked together honestly and truly at the Kenya International Convention Centre (KICC). He says the country will be more united with both of them in charge. The Senator from Nandi also said their partnership made the government jobs split more fairly between the two leaders' groups. He pointed to the recent changes in who is in charge of the Senate and National Assembly committees. "The Ruto-Raila handshake 2025 is a real partnership. You can see it in how the Senate and National Assembly picked their chairpersons and how the cabinet and other top government jobs will change soon," he wrote on his social media. He added, "The country is more united, together, and successful with H.E Ruto and Baba Raila as leaders." Senator Cherargei said this after some of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's close allies recently lost their important jobs leading Parliamentary Committees. Ndindi Nyoro, who is the Member of Parliament for Kiharu, was one of the leaders affected. Sam Atandi, the MP for Alego Usonga, took his place as the Chairperson of the National Assembly's Budget and Appropriations Committee. Nobody else tried to get the job. Atandi was the only one who turned in his papers when it was time to pick someone. "I am grateful to my party leader, Raila Odinga, and President William Ruto for coming up with the idea of a broad-based government," Atandi said.
