Luke Mushore passed away on June 13 at age 76 and became a national hero. Officials moved his body to his farm at Centenary yesterday. They plan to fly him to Harare today. Home Affairs Minister Kazembe Kazembe praised him as humble and dedicated. The minister said Mushore could work with anyone and stayed very loyal to his country.

Minister Christopher Magomo visited Mushore's farm and felt impressed with his crops. He called Mushore a skilled farmer and decorated war veteran. Magomo said the loss hurts many people across different groups. War veterans, party members and farmers will miss him deeply. His death creates a big gap that will be hard to fill.

Mushore joined the freedom fight back in 1972 among the first fighters. He kept his strong commitment during the war and after independence ended. He pushed for development projects as an MP for Muzarabani. Even after leaving his official positions, he continued helping his party and nation. Several top officials visited his family home last week after hearing about his death.
