Church of Africa deputy bishop Zach Makari will be laid to rest Sunday at Okahumandu village near Aminuis. Kauandenge remembered how Makari helped change education systems from Cape to Cambridge during the early 1990s.

Church youth leader Kapanda Marenga said Makari created space for young people to matter. The youth league joined the National Youth Council because of Makari's support. He built an environment where young church members felt important to their communities. Leaders agree Makari died before finishing his community work. His death leaves empty spaces across religious and social groups.
