Nees backs six Scottland players for qualifiers

Michael Nees, who coaches the Warriors, picked six players from Scottland FC for the next 2026 World Cup games against Benin and Nigeria. He talked about this choice after he named his team on Wednesday. The coach selected Khama Billiat, Mthokozisi Msebe, Peter Muduhwa, Godknows Murwira, Tymon Machope, and Walter Musona from Scottland FC.

He added more players who play in Zimbabwe, like Isheanesu Mauchi from Simba Bhora, goalkeeper Martin Mapisa from MWOS, and Emmanuel Jalai, who leads Dynamos. Nees said he chose many Scottland players because they trained harder before the season started, making them more fit than players from other teams.

The coach mentioned that Scottland spent three weeks training in Zambia, and Simba Bhora practiced in South Africa during that same time. Both teams had enough money to travel to these training camps. Nees noticed these teams looked very strong after their extra practice time away from home.

Zimbabwe will meet Benin on March 20 at Moses Mabida Stadium in Durban. Four days later, they must travel to Uyo to face the Super Eagles of Nigeria. These games count toward Group C qualifying matches for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
