Nintendo showed off more details about the Switch 2 during a recent hour-long live stream. They said this isn't just a small change to the old Switch but a brand new system built from scratch. The screen measures 7.9 inches and has Full HD 1080p display quality. Nintendo kept the LCD screen type rather than using OLED. Nintendo says the device stays just as thin as the first Switch, despite these improvements. Nintendo skipped talking about the exact chip inside or how much memory the system has. They promised much better CPU and GPU power than before, which helps run games at higher quality on the bigger screen. The upgraded dock lets you play on TV with 4K resolution, and games can run up to 120 frames every second. This beats the old Switch that only reached 1080p and 60 frames per second. The dock even has its fan to keep everything cool during long play sessions. Your games and apps have way more space on Switch 2 with 256GB built in. That's four times more than Switch OLED models had and eight times what the basic LCD Switch offered. You can add even more space with microSD Express cards if needed. The kickstand works better because you can set it at any angle you want. A second USB-C port sits on top of the system, letting you charge when playing on a table. You can also plug in a camera for video chat through the new GameChat feature. Sound makes a big jump forward with spatial 3D audio. Nintendo claims this creates clearer, more natural sounds with better balance across all tones. The new Joy-Con 2 controllers connect and disconnect using magnets instead of rails. These controllers do something really cool - you can slide either one across a surface like a table or pants leg to use it like a computer mouse. This helps especially in games where you need to aim at things. The base Switch 2 package costs $449.99 and comes with the main system, both Joy-Con 2 controllers, grip, straps, dock, high-speed HDMI cable, power adapter, and USB-C charging cable. If you want a game right away, Nintendo sells a bundle with Mario Kart World for $499.99. These prices mark a step up from the first Switch generation but bring many improvements gamers have asked for since the original system launched.
