Message:
Francis Duru has passed away after falling ill, his relatives say. The Nollywood veteran's death came as sad news to fans of Nigerian cinema. His loved ones used his verified Instagram account to break the news but gave no clear details on what had made him sick. Instead, they asked the public for prayers, care, and some grace as they deal with their grief. The family chose to keep the message brief, with no further account of his last days. Duru was no stranger to movie fans across Africa. Though born in Cameroon, he made his name in Nigeria, where his acting work helped Nollywood grow. Years of film roles made him a face that people from different age groups could recall, even far from home. And there is a sad bit of family history here. Just two years prior, the actor had lost Ifeanyi, his youngest son. That earlier loss had already brought grief to those close to him, long before his death brought fresh pain.
