Lando Norris claimed victory at the Austrian Grand Prix on Sunday. Oscar Piastri finished second to give McLaren a complete sweep of the top two positions. The race took place at the Red Bull Ring where McLaren had not won since David Coulthard's triumph back in 2001. Charles Leclerc drove his Ferrari to third place ahead of Lewis Hamilton who rounded out the top four. The result moved Norris closer to Piastri in the championship standings with just 15 points separating the teammates. Norris started the race from pole position and managed to stay ahead throughout the event. His teammate applied constant pressure but could not find a way past the British driver. The victory marked Norris's third race win during the current season. He bounced back from a disappointing performance in Canada where he crashed into Piastri's car near the finish line. Both drivers failed to complete that previous race in Montreal. The Austrian race saw an early retirement for Max Verstappen who crashed his Red Bull car. The four-time world champion collided with Kimi Antonelli's Mercedes when the Italian rookie's tires locked up. Verstappen's crash removed him from contention and handed McLaren an easier path to their dominant result. The team celebrated their first Austrian success in over two decades. Norris described the race as demanding but praised the perfect outcome for McLaren.
