Sulayman Sumareh Janneh is the NRA's deputy managing director. He said the bridge is not failing. The only problem is with the expansion joints. These joints have rubber on top. They let the bridge move a bit, as it should. But the rubber is wearing down. In some spots, bolts came loose. This makes the mats move. They rattle when cars go over them.

Janneh said it is a small repair job that does not affect the bridge's safety. The NRA will fix it fast, but they may need to get some materials first.

The bridge station officer is ASP Kebba Ceesay. He worries about the noise and broken rubber. He does not want the bridge to hold very heavy trucks. That is why they open the barrier at busy times. This lets more cars cross in the morning and evening.

Other workers at the bridge have the same concern. Many big trucks use the left lane coming from Banjul. They carry heavy loads like shipping containers. The left lane holds more weight than the right.

The NRA says the problems with the bridge are minor. They plan to make the needed repairs soon.
