NRM lays out election plan for next cycle

The National Resistance Movement party released its election schedule Monday for the upcoming 2025-2026 general elections. NRM Secretary-General Richard Todwong announced the timeline at party headquarters with other party leaders present. The process starts April 24, when candidates can register interest for village chairperson positions. Todwong called this an important step forward for the party.

The timeline covers events from April 2025 through February 2026, starting with local elections. Village flag bearer elections happen May 6, parliamentary primaries occur July 16, and local chairperson primaries take place July 24. Presidential candidate nominations run October 2-3, with national voting scheduled between January 12 and February 9, 2026. The plan focuses on patriotism, pan-African values, economic change, and democratic principles.

No other major political group has shared election plans yet. The NRM became the first to create a full schedule for the coming elections. The party committee wants all members to pay attention to these dates. This roadmap guides internal party activities leading to the national vote.
