General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi has become the talk of the town after his recent press conference. Activist and poet Ntsiki Mazwai jumped on social media to praise the KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner. She took time to dig into his background and found herself amazed by what she discovered. The general made serious claims against senior police figures during his July 6 media appearance. Mazwai could not stop talking about how impressed she felt with his qualifications. The police chief holds a B-Tech in Policing and a National Diploma in Police Administration. He received counter-terrorism investigation training in the United States and earned bomb disposal certification right here in South Africa. Crisis Response Team Training abroad also appears on his resume. These credentials explain why people respect him and why he takes such a tough approach to fighting crime. His educational background sets him apart from many others in similar positions. Mkhwanazi started his career as a student constable back in 1993. He worked his way up through the South African Police Service over many years. The general served as Head of the Special Task Force and Divisional Commissioner for Human Resource Development. He even worked as acting National Commissioner before landing his current job. His duties include overseeing tactical response, counter-terrorism, hostage negotiation, and bomb disposal units. Mazwai wrapped up her praise by saying his educational background explains his strong stance against crime. She believes his qualifications make him the right person for the job. The activist clearly thinks highly of the general and his approach to law enforcement.
